Let’s imagine a two-lane freeway, with each lane going in a different direction. A certain amount of cars can go through that freeway each minute. On a freeway with more lanes, a higher number of cars would be able to go through per minute. If we think of the cars as data, and the freeway as bandwidth, we could say that the more bandwidth there is, the more data is able to go through per minute (usually measured in Mbps or megabits per second).
We would have that with low bandwidth (256 kilobytes per second), we might be able to watch a video, but it is going to look choppy or blurry. Now, if we have a higher bandwidth, we could watch the video at a higher resolution, that is, with more definition.

Another reason demand for better bandwidth has gone up is because of the school-aged children that are taking their classes from home. Additionally, more video calls are being made.
